2020 marks the Centennial anniversary of the Omega chapter of Alpha Phi. The chapter is stronger than ever, with an active membership of over 200. The Chapter recently received the International Partner in Philanthropy Award from the Alpha Phi Foundation. Omega was the second highest overall collegiate donor for the biennium – having raised nearly $120,000 for the Foundation during 2018 – 2020. They also received the Excellence in Philanthropy Award as the top donor of the South Quadrant for Alpha Phi. Philanthropy events include the Red Dress Gala, Mac ‘n’ Phis and the Heart of Texas Barbecue which has been co-hosted with the TexasCowboys and Kappa Sig in recent years.
The House has undergone several major renovations over the past 10 years, including adding life-safety features such as a fire sprinkler system, a new kitchen and snack kitchen for the members to use, a complete remodel of the community bathrooms, all new bedroom furniture for our 48 live-in members, a complete decorative remodel of the downstairs areas and a conversion of the Chapter Room into a much-needed study space. The historic character of the House is still evident, but the changes have allowed us to update 2005 University to reflect current tastes and new uses for a growing chapter.
There is a lot more planned for 2005 University in the near future! In conjunction with our Centennial celebration, we’ve undertaken the Centennial Campaign: For Our Next 100 Years. The campaign is designed to create a legacy for Omega’s future by funding the renovation of all the bedrooms, the exterior of the House and other important décor updates to other spaces in the House.
How lucky we were to have had our special Centennial celebration weekend at the end of February! The timing couldn’t have been better given everything that followed. It was a wonderful an opportunity to renew treasured friendships, to recapture some cherished memories,
and to celebrate our shared legacy that is Alpha Phi. The excitement and energy that weekend were inspiring, and our hope is that each member will become more engaged with Omega, through this website and our social media platforms.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the House Board made the difficult but important decision to close the House in mid-March. The House re-opened on August 8 th and we were excited to welcome back 47 women for the new year. The House is generally following UT protocols in these ever-changing times. The safety of our House members and staff remains our primary objective. Processes and protocols will continue to evolve as needed.
